The neck on my 50s Classic Vibe Strat is a high gloss. I often find when playing it’s hard to get a smooth slide as the neck feels sticky, especially as I tend to have very warm hands.
Does anybody else have this problem, if so how do you get round it. I have thought of gentle wire wool to matt the neck, but that’s a bit permanent or possible dusting with talc, which appears very difficult to buy.

Try 1500 grit wet and dry with a little water and a drop of Fairy, this will dull the shine, if it's still too shiny go down to 800, you can check if it's even in the light.

G'day Tim, before modifying the finish on the neck it may be worthwhile to try spraying some Tone Finger Ease (or similar) on it. It is OK to use on the strings, fret board and back of the neck. Respray each session because it does not leave residue. Tone Finger Ease infoP.S. I have used this spray for many years so can confirm it does not damage the guitar.

Thanks for all the advice. I eventually used a Scotchbrite pad. Lovely smooth neck now.
