Came across this article about Cliff Gallup who you may remember playing for Gene Vincent. This is what Hank & Bruce were listening to (amongst others of course) in the early years. Of special interest is the echo machine used & the authors thoughts & techniques for getting "that sound" by using modern guitars & pups etc... Hi Dick, I have seen that article before and found it interesting. I think the echo was done by the studio (Bardley's Barn?), probably with a modified tape recorder. Of course Sun is probably more famous for that sound, although in the case of Scotty Moore, he had his own tape echo built into his Ray Butts amp. Regards, Charlie
