This guy is a bit too biased I feel, a bit like his tube amps probably….. The tube/valve Vs solid state has been going on for since the transistor was first used in guitar amps…..
I’ve had both and yes valves are my preference but I have had SS amps that were pretty good…..
I used a late 70’s Roland JC 120 for a while….magnificent clean rhythm amp….one of the best….
MusicMan HD130EVM…..heavy beast and actually a hybrid….tranny preamp and valve output…..traded a Fender Twin with JBLs,….MM was in a different league ……
Pearce….rare now and forgotten….had one and it sounded very good…
Worst SS amp was the Roland Blues Cube Artist from a couple of years ago …..sounded really good at home and lost the plot on stage….
Best amp I have ever used…..got to be my 1964 Vox AC30 Supertwin….had the power, tone and delivery….never failed to deliver the goods… Unfortunately I sold it in 1968!!!!! and bought a Gibson Mercury Medallist piggy back…. After seeing the Everly Bros and their backing trio were using them…. GAS for the trapezium shape…..I think that’s right or was it a Rhombus

I wanted to get a Blues cube Artist thought they sound great , ended up getting a Katana which I used mostly for its versatility, I have a couple of AC30s and a Fender Bassbreaker 15 which is a nice amp but it’s one channel with three modes clean crunch and high gain a set and forget amp I believe with their design they are a nightmare to service. I wouldn’t mind a Blackstar HT 20 or Artist 15 Matthew

Paul 🎸😊🎸😊🎸 When I started again c2004 I bought a very secondhand Peavey Audition 30. Very loud at home but when I took it to Hankies that first time - - where did all the volume go??! Feeble! Even my Vox VT60, a hybrid, isn't as loud as an genuine AC30. Must be dynamics or summat. Ian

I've still got my HH VS Musician with reverb, head, that I bought at the dawn of time. It's a one time industry standard that I just can't seem to be able to let it go.........It must be the way the front panel all lights up in green.
Cheers
