I found this little tool on one of the better known online sales sites ... my eyesight isn't all it used to be and fidgeting around trying to set string/pup heights isn't that easy any more. so hopefully this gadget (which is half the length of a ball pen) might help:- Here is a link www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01F5N55B0?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsHope I'm not breaking any site rules posting this Regards, Barry

Hi Len,
Definitely agree with you. I bought a Digital Micrometer from Aldi some years ago. It was really cheap, but has proved invaluable when doing setups. I’ve even used it to check string gauges when I’m not sure what I used on a guitar.

Hi Len and Tim,
Thanks for the feed back. Yes, I own vernier calliper and use it often but they do come in at around 145g in weight and when held vertically to check depth they do tend to be a bit unstable and displaces the string easily due to the concentration of their weight over a small area. The depth gauge from Amazon is very tiny and comes in at only a feather weight 10g and when resting on the strings they don't get depressed as easily if at all. I'll see how it gets on and post again.
Cheers, Barry
