Hi All. As a shadows wannabee i wonder if somebody could point me in the right direction to get close to a sound i'm happy with?, i'm not very technical so please bear with me. I have a 50s classic vibe strat with a zoom g5 with charlies patches installed, then a caline cp-24 equalizer going into a Vox pathfinder 15R. I'm using Ernie ball rock-n roll super slinky which i know are maybe not the ideal string but struggle with anything else, so i'm fairly happy with the sound of the wound strings but the others have to much treble and sharpness. iv'e tried taming the treble back but just end up muddying the complete sound. Could anybody lead me in the right direction as to how to set up as i seem to be getting nowhere. thanks. John.

OK.....go to main board, scroll down and click onto 'technical support'...then click on 'amps'....then click on 'general amp tone controls' There is a very detailed information from Charlie on amp settings for 'that sound'. Regards, Baz.

Hi John,
The reason your getting the muddy sound is probably due to the low (bass) frequencies needing to be cut back, with the Caline I would try cutting 31.25 Hz and 62.Hz to zero and if this starts to work for you could try 125 Hz as well!
The gain needs to be fairly low try around 9:00 o'clock, Bass on amp around 9:00/10:00 and Treble between 2:00 and 3:00 as starting point, and it's worth trying the boost as well, see how you get on from there.
Regards
Gary
