How to get the "Semi Detached" sound?

I wanted to ask the wise ones of this forum: how did Hank get his guitar sound on "Semi Detached Suburban Mr. James" (Jigsaw)?

To me, it doesn't sound like a completely dry signal. Did he double-track it in the studio?

What effect would you recommend for getting that sound when playing live? Chorus perhaps?

Not chorus. It's almost certainly a single tap fast echo, probably around 80ms.
