Hello from the colonies. I'd appreciate some help from anyone using a Vox AC30 CC2 with the Vox Custom speakers. Would some kind soul please be able to share the amp settings that they use to get the 'early' sound. I'm using Mexican Classic 50s and 60s strats along with a CIJ '62. Any assistance will be gratefully accepted. Cheers, JB

Hi JB, This is always going to be a well debated area. It is so influenced by personal preferences and what you as a person ( or anyone else for that matter ) think or perceive the "early" sound should be. I use this amp and my prefered settings are : guitar pugged into the top boost input but wth toggle switch moved to the normal. This allows me to blend the 2 channels. I then set the bass and treble at halfway and then blend both the top boost and normal channels to get my desired tonal output. As I said though it is very much a personal preference so all I can do is give you my view. It pays to just experiment...
Kind Regards Ron.

Hi JB, Generally, if you want a brighter sound as heard on earlier recordings, do not add treble, instead reduce bass. If there is a cut control, then use it to reduce some of the highs (usually clockwise to reduce highs on Vox amps) in order to tame high notes. The actual control position will vary according to the taper of the pot, but try positions from around 1/4 to 3/4 of rotation. Regards, Charlie
