My connection timed out joeboy, its back up again now etc.
Hi Brian, I love this website, I have learn't so much stuff be it setting up my gear or getting backing tracks sorted out. I've never met such a friendly and helpful bunch on the net. I am a relatively novice shads player, bout a year to date, although I have played guitar all my life. 22 tunes in my arsenal and 2 new ones on the way and off course charlies patches for my G2 installed.
Thanks for replying Brian

Hi Neil,
We will have to arrange a mutual time and see if we can sort out the "chat room".
I'm a sort of re-born guitar player, having been around in the Shads early days, then got married and that sort of took over, but I've started getting back into it and have now got about 10 numbers sorted, but I've only been practicing for about 2 months, so I'm through the sore finger stage, and just enjoying the learning process.
I agree with your comments, everybody seems very friendly and willing to help and offer advice, when needed, there are some very knowledgeable people out there, I've had a couple of very good responses from Europe. I think this site is great.
Talk soon,
Regards
Brian

Hi Neil & Brian, I'm not a lover of chat rooms on Forums, they finish up a questions and answers session, where only the advise of a couple of members is to hand. In My opinion, forums are for information sharing with everyone that is registered on the forum and the Charlie Hall and Friends Forum thrives on shared information. As this is an international forum, timescales wouldn't allow for some members to even have the opportunity to visit the chat room at what we would consider a reasonable time in the UK. I just checked to see how many were in the chat room, and it was a total of 1 i.e. just me. Kind regards, gripthong

Hi all, The chat room was set up early on in this site's re-birth here following a suggestion by Goran. Skype was also suggested - charliehall.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1285&page=1It never really became popular but it still seems to me a potentially useful alternative, halfway between posting messages and telephoning e.g. for one member to guide another through an effects unit programming or setting up relevant software etc.

Hi Gripthong,
I take your point, but would also add that it is nice to have the option as Bill3 says.
I don't think that Neil, or I, had any intention of excluding anybody because of time constraints, it might just be nice to talk over things, without going totally public (simply because it might not interest the majority of members).
I also think that if anybody wanting to use the chat room, it would have to be with prior arrangement, simply because of peoples different work, sleep, shopping (for guitars, etc, of course) patterns.
So it definitely wasn't intended to offend anybody.
Regards
Brian

Hi all,
all comments re- the chat room noted. I see chat rooms as another way off passing/sharing information. There is another forum I communicate which is music based and they tend to use mirc as they're chat client which can be left online using minimum system resources. even if you are not at the pc you can check who has been trying to contact you when you return etc. here lies a problem with this chat software, it times out after about 20 minutes and logs you off. just timing it at the moment etc. will post how long it takes to time out when I get the info!!!

chat software timed out at approx 30 mins, my internet connection still working fine so its not an ISP issue. Chat software would not be suitable to be left permanenty connected, but as suggested ,it could be used for a pre-arranged time for discussions etc.
Regardz
Neil
