Hi Alan, I have them on a CD from See For Miles SEE CD 246. It's called The Shadows. The EP Collection. I don't know if it's still available. Regards, Charlie

Yes,thanks Charlie I have found it now.
I want to compare the sound I have in my head with the actual sound of the record.
For some reason,I always think it's more toppy than it actually is.

Hi Alan
To go off at a tangent from the topic of this thread, your mention of sound comparison between what you remember and actuality strikes a chord (!) I think we all think we carry "the sound" in our heads but on times without number I've listened to the original recording for one reason or another after not hearing it for some time and I've realised that it's different from what I thought it was.
No wonder "That Sound" is so difficult to nail!
Cheers.

Hi Tony
You are quite correct just try it for yourself.Play a tune without listening to the original first, then play the original,I was surprised how far off the sound in my head was compared to the way Hank sounded.
It's more pronounced with the early stuff, the modern sound as it's called is far easier to replicate.
As I said,I always think it's more trebly than it is,but it's the timbre that is so difficult to get,but it's fun trying.

Memory can play all manner of tricks - I listened to an original Shads track earlier today (and I know this will cause much tut-tutting) but I was quite disappointed in the guitar tones. The sound I thought I had in my head was quite different. Now how crazy is that?
