Just out of interest - What patent does Charlie have with his programmed tones. It just you hear a lot about 'pirated copies' of Shadows tones but if there is no official copywrite then i guess in a court of law there is nothing to say a person has done any wrong legally by using the EFTP tones, slightly adjusting them and the selling the unit on as long as they dont say it was programmed by Charlie Hall, which would obviously be illegal?? Just wondered really....cos its an interesting thread. Hi, Copyright is an automatic right that applies as soon as a unique 'literary work' (among other things) is created. The creator owns the copyright. Computer programs are included in 'literary works' at least as far as UK law is concerned. A point of interest is that it doesn't just apply to the financial side of things, it protects a work from being tampered with i.e. changed from the originators intention. Doing what you describe would be illegal. If it came to court they would examine how close the 'copy' was to the original i.e. they would test the 'original content' of the work. I hope that clarifies things a little without going into too much detail. BTW Patents are different!

Hi Tandy, Welcome to the site. One of the conditions of supply of my patches from me is that the files are passed on to the next owner if the unit contains my patches. I can supply you with the files for £45. Please email me charliehallATntlworld.com (replacing AT with @) so I can send you the full information and conditions. Regards, Charlie
