Hi All, I've got an old Selmer Truvoice amp (early '60's) which I believe is called a 'Standard'? It has tremelo and a 10" speaker. There is valve missing and I'm trying to identify it. When you remove the back panel, there are 4 valves facing you - on the left hand side are 2 smaller valves, and it's the lower one of the two (nearest the speaker) that's missing. Anyone any thoughts on what may have been fitted? Regards, Chas. Attachments:

What are the other valves? I can`t find anything on a Standard but the Compact 30 uses an ECC82, an ECC83 and a pair of EL506 Maybe some help

Hi Ian, The 2 larger valves are EZ80 (on the right), EL84 (in the middle), and of the 2 small ones on the left, the upper one is a EF86. I've included another pic of how the looks (for identification) - the pics aren't my actual amp, but are identical. Chas. Attachments:

Hi Chas, I have researched this for you. There was an earlier model called the new standard which has the same circuit. If your EF86 is in the correct position (and I think it is), the missing valve is an ECC83 (12AX7). Your amp might work without the ECC83 as I think it is for the tremolo effect. If it doesn't work now, it might not work with the missing valve installed. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Thanks for your research, that's very kind of you. The tremelo pot doesn't turn off - i.e. if you don't want the effect, you turn it to min., so I think the valve is probably part of the circuit - so might have some luck!
Best Wishes for the New Year, Chas.
