Hi Peter, Having just recently required the desktop version, im still in a learning curve, but i am more than happy with it. I havent used it with an amp but have got good results with the magic stomp and tonelab into pc. Much better than what i got before when using guitar port. The only effect i dont like is the compressor . It may be that im not using the right settings but it just doesnt work for me. Some members have expressed an opinion that they think there is a different between the desktop model and the other models but i cant comment on that. Regards Tony

Hi Peter, I have the TonelabST, which is the latest and much smaller version. It doesn't have some of the effects of the LE that I had previously but is much more manageable and still has a built-in pedal. Having smaller dimensions I don't keep clouting my ankle on it within my small bedroom setting, as was the case with the LE and the previous SE version was even larger and bulkier. Combined with my Magicstomp I think it does a good job. It makes a good stab at the Vox AC30/15 sounds and although I don't use any of its other amp/speaker simulations for Shads material, they're there anyway should you wish to experiment. The stereo reverb's pretty smooth and some chorus/simple echoes are fine if used in conjunction with the M/stomp. The ST's also quite reasonably priced compared with its predecessors and has USB connectivity, which the previous versions lacked.
Cheers, Martyn
PS I agree with everyone re the compression effects being unimpressive and if you decide you need this feature maybe a separate compressing device would be a good move.
