Hi, A member has told me that he has changed his ISP and therefore his email address too, but he is not able to change his email address in his member details on this site. I used to be able to do this for any member but it is not possible to do it now, maybe because it is indeed no longer possible for anyone to do that. Does anyone know please if it is possible and how to do it if so? Regards, Charlie

H Charlie
I clicked Profile at the top of the page, then Modify Profile on the next page where it gives the option to change the email address.
Of course, I didn't do it,but it may work.

Hi Charlie,
Click 'Profile' at top of page - click 'modify profile' (in bar above advert) - change address - click 'modify profile' at bottom - email will be sent, click link to activate - activate account.

Hi Alan and Clive, Thanks for that. I have previously been able to change the email and can do that now, except when the details are saved the email address remains as it was before, this is when trying to alter a member's details on their behalf. So i don't know quite what would happen when a member tries to change their own email entry. I wouldn't advise any member to actually try it for the sake of seeing if it works or not. Hi Charlie
If that dosen't work, all you could do would be to wipe all trace of the members details from the server and get them to re-register as a new member.
They could probably use the same details as before, as long as they had been wiped completely.
I find it strange that no details can be altered/updated,there must be a way, maybe it's just not that obvious.
Clive,no problem,I think we both had the same solution.Better to have 2 replies than none.

Hi again Allan/Charlie,
This morning, at my desk, I changed my email address from my business address to my home address (I use 2 addresses on the board - office/home), activated it, and then went through the procedure again and changed it back once more, without any problem.
Mind you I had my IT expert at my side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go through the procedure I previously mentioned and you should'nt have any problem.
Take a deep breath and do it eh? - Let me know if you get into trouble and I will get my man to sort it for us.

Hi Guys, Good instructions from Clive (and Alan). If you do change your email address, as soon as you click 'update profile' at the bottom of the profile page you are locked out of this site and can only look at it by logging out and coming back as a guest because (sensibly) account activation is set to on on this site. When you try to log in you must have the new activation code which was sent to the new email address that you changed to. You do get multiple chances to put in a new email address if, for example, you made a mistake typing it in the first time but you must have access to the most recent new email address that you give. (As Clive says it does work but note that I had some kind of glitch when I tried this (elsewhere) and had to ask twice for a new activation code, so Charlie's advice not to try it unless you have to is good).
Charlie is correct that he used to be able to make the change but Proboards stopped it on all boards as members complained that it was being abused by some admins.
