Dance On was originally written as a vocal track by The Avons.

Just goes to show - I'd always assumed the Shads version was the only one and had no idea it was originally a song. We live and learn. Thanks for that, Martyn

I remember this being released at the time as the group I was with had a girl singer. It was very popular and Kathy Kirby was a big star for a while in the early sixties but then suddenly faded away quite quickly. She was described as the British answer to Marilyn Monroe. Tony

Hi Martyn, I have a friend who is an Elvis impersonator, his stage name is Jesse Garron and he performs all over the UK. He is doing a gig at Prestwick on March 3rd to re-create Elvis' landing at Prestwick airport on that date in 1960. I am building him the mid section of a plane so that he will appear from it onto the stage. Last Tuesday while going in his van to collect materials for the build he played one of his CDs and Dance On was one of his songs on it. I was surprised as I didn't know it was a song also. Anyway, since I've told you about the plane, he has also got the US Airforce to record a voice from the tower as if the plane is coming in to land with the sound of a plane in the background. He has also got the recording from the tower on the plane's departure. This will be his intro and end of show. Sounds exciting!
Regards, Jim

Hi Jim, Fascinating stuff - didn't know you were a full size model maker - I make smaller stuff for a living. Cheers, Martyn

The Avons? Is this the same Avons who had a hit with 'Seven Little Girls' back in the early 60's?
