A poke in the eye for people who insist that the well known auction site is the yardstick for valuations of anything! Did anyone see the 508 that went for £170 on Jan 1st and today's which went for £97.15? Fickle eh? My Klemt Echolette cost me less than £70 but the following week one went for £230! ???Cheers, Lionel

It's the name of the game Lionel I went for a set of Schaller gold staggered tuners which I won, to my door in Oz cost came to $108 To buy here it is $300 retail for a set. Checked out a set of stamped Fender Schallers for $55 but not staggered after waiting a week for a answer from the seller so I was told. Last year I saw a Klempt sell for US $690 To work the well known auction site I find you have to sniff around a bit Cheers mate John

Thanks John - that's what I mean. I'm a hardened the well known auction site veteran and I know how it works, which is why I get annoyed if people use it for valuations!! There's absolutely no consistency! You see people advertising music kit with the statement "It's worth £XXX because one sold on the well known auction site last week/month for £XXXX". It may be a good sales pitch but it's actually meaningless! Don't tell the wife but I spend between £3K and £4K per year on the well known auction site!! I only ever "buy low". My Binson B1, in excellent condition, was one of my most expensive items at £415, but the EC3 was only £200. My two Zoom 508s were £45 and £55, but that was about 3 years ago. (Waddaya mean - "You don't need two of them" ?) One's programmed with Charlie's and the other with Geoff's! ;D Cheers, Lionel
