Hi everybody. I am aware that my QV+ can be Midi controlled from my PC but am not sure what sort of program I need installed in my PC to do so..I am looking for something simple that will allow me to select one of the EFTP patches without having to manually select from the QV+ itself. In a nutshell, I would like to select one of my Backing tracks installed on the PC and the QV+ would apply Charlies appropriate Patch.. I would definately have no wish to endanger the QVs loaded EFTP patches even with Charlies supplied program as a backup.
Is there such a program available somewhere that a Ham Fist like myself could instal on my Pc, or should I leave Well Alone. I only use my equipment at home and suppose I am just being lazy.!
Thanks.
Mike.

Mike, I had the same thoughts a while ago. I wanted to use a footswitch to control the selection and starting/stopping of my Backing Tracks.
I couldn't really find anything suitable, so I wrote a program myself in Visual Basic to do it. I have just added a MIDI control to this so when you select a Backing Track it changes the patches on my Zoom RFX2000 and V-Amp2.
It took a while to do, but now works fine and saves me having to walk the 2ft across the bedroom to change patches.
Hope you find what you are looking for.
Regards,
Tim

Hi Mike Have you considered using a foot pedal like the midi buddy to change your patches. It works with the Q2 and it should work with your QV+. You could use a long midi cable to connect both. Have a look at your manual and see if they mention something about midi controllers.. Sheendigs

What I do is load the BT into my sequencer/DAW program (I have been using PowerTracks Pro but most should work), insert a MIDI program change event on a spare MIDI track to select the required echo patch, re-save in the sequencer's native format. Now when you load that file and play it the MIDI message is sent to the echo unit and changes the patch as the BT starts to play.
To clarify, if you wanted to select patch number 31, say, you would create a program change with 31 as the value of the program (it might say 'jazz guitar' or something; can't recall offhand. A synth uses program change events to select a different instrument patch.)

Hi Sheendigs / Phil.
I will try out both of your suggestions and see what happens.
Many thanks.
