I have a small midi keyboard (Evolution MK-7) that I bought some time ago, just to Play around with. It is only a cheap little thing ,but it did work well till I changed the Hard Disc. in my computer. It uses a 15 pin Gameport connector into the soundcard--Try as I may I cannot get any sounds to come through the computer speakers. (Iv'e tried reloading the Set up disc that came with the Keyboard--but I can't get it to work. Can anybody help ?
Thanks
Tommo

Hi Tommo, Have you checked your soundcard settings for MIDI output volume? Regards, Charlie

Hi Tommo, If Charlie's suggestion doesn't work, we really need more details about what has happened but assuming you had to do a clean install onto a new hard disc, you presumably installed the drivers for the soundcard then tried to install the software for the keyboard, yes?
Did you get any error messages when you went through the installation? Can you try the game port with another piece of equipment? What operating system (exactly) are you using? Any other audio or game software installed?

Thanks chaps.
This is all I can tell you. When I go to the Evolution program,on my computer, I get the Following Message. "A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system"--(Whatever that means !). I am using windows XP. with a "Genius 5.1 soundcard.

Hi Tommo I just took a look at the MK7 manual on line at www.m-audio.com/images/global/manuals/mk7eng.pdf. You may need to check the MIDI setting as follows: 4. Setting the MIDI TRANSMIT Channel There are 16 MIDI transmit channels available. The value is 1 to 16. Set the unit’s MIDI channel. The unit sends all MIDI messages on this MIDI channel. Be sure to match the channel with the RECEIVE channel of the connected equipment. 4-1 Hold down the SELECT button (2) and ... 4-2 Press the CHANNEL key (10). 4-3 Press one (or two) of the numeric keys to change the channel. Also you can use +/- keys to increase or decrease the value. 4-4 Release the SELECT button. Now the new TRANSMIT CHANNEL is set. Note: The default CHANNEL is 1 when power is turned on. Might be worth checking if there is updated software available too Hope this helps Roger
