There is a "Youtube" video showing a chap linking up two delay pedals to get the "Hank" rippling echo effect--(and it doesn't sound bad.)
Has anyone here tried linking up two echo units to get more "Head combinations"?. I'm experimenting with a Watkins IC400 varispeed (Three delay heads)--through a Vox Valvetronix Amp- with the Delay effect selected on the Amp.
Cheers
Ian

It can be done by having 3 delay taps with little or no feedback, then a single delay with feedback. The single delay should be longer than the other 3 of course. Regards, Charlie

I have seen this video and I left it at that. Good luck to all those that want to experiment with this kind of stuff. Me, I just want to play the guitar. I use a Zoom G2 1u with Mr Hall's EFTP, took me an hour and half to program. Now I just play through it and make music. I would have thought that a better and cheaper option than linking up two digital delay units and then having to mess around for hours trying to get it to sound right. Once again just my views fellow players. All the best George

Hi Ian No Problem I used to mess around. I once spent so long setting up a guitar with a Floyd rose on it that when I turned the light out to go to bed it was still light. It was 6 in the morning !! ;D My son is a heavy metal player and he had a gig the next day so I said I would sort his guitar out. Since then i have preferred to just play. I joined "guitar tricks "on line and am doing the rock and blues courses on there. Seen it ?? Great site and well cheap. www.guitartricks.comAll the best and you mess around as much as you want. Apologies if I stepped out of line. Not intended ! George

Hi. I saw that one also a while ago, it sounds.......but not Echomatic. I have a friend doing that with 5 delays, what a mess , he got tired of it bought a Copycat and added 3 replay heads to it and created a new mess he is till trying to make that one work. I make use a Q2 with E.F.T.P and a TC Electronics G Force programmed by me with same good sounding echoes and it just works. ;D Kind Regards, 26rednef Attachments:

Hi 26rednef, It sounds OK but you need to reduce the low end on the echo signal if possible. The echo bandwidth is too good. Regards, Charlie

I have seen this video and I left it at that. Good luck to all those that want to experiment with this kind of stuff. I had seen this demo before, and was never really convinced by this solution. Certainly not for those who want instantly selectable different echo settings !... Didier

Hi Charlie. Here is one of my G Force Shadows default settings I make use of. One is the Q2 with E.F.T.P and one is G Force, both Shadows Default setting, Q2 00 Then there is a simulation of rise and fall with dist on echoes with the G Force that is not doable with the Q2. ;D www.4shared.com/file/234906005/f2dd51fd/demo_both.htmlGuess witch one is yours, good luck. Since you play the same thing over and over it might help if you can tell me where the changeover point is. For the moment, I would guess some of my settings are in all of it. Regards, Charlie

Well chaps I shall put my two halfpenny's worth in here. I have said several times that I prefer to play rather than fiddle but having said that I like a good sound. I play alot of my stuff using Charlie's EFTP and I am well happy with it. Just done Peace Pipe to add to my repertoire and am about to record it. Charlie, my thoughts are get on with something else mate. That last sound demo in part sounded like a geezer pinging on a comb. Why bother with it ? Whats the point in trying work out what was what on that? Your EFTP are just fine, lets all use them for music and use the comb on our quiffs. ;D ;D Anyone agree and back me on this. ? All the best George.

Hi and thanks for your opinion. Any body seen the DVD Joe Satriani Live in San Fransisco from 2002 Live he make use of 3 delays pedals in sires + Chorus to create his nice delay sound. That is one way to do it, you have chosen a other way, no big deal with that. I think, if Hank and the guys had access to todays technology back then, the sound would have been very different to what it is. There are many nice sounds out there, one is Hanks echo ripples from the 60's. There are others like Andy Summers nice stereo reverb sound from the 80's, Robben Ford's nice Dumble overdrive sound, John Petrucci's Metal sound, Pat Metheney's Jazz sound to mention a few. I can't favorite one I would like to have them all. ;D Kind Regards, 26rednef

Nice to hear from you Ian Good luck with Guitar Tricks. My playing and understanding have both improved since I joined it. I have been able to tie up loose ends. I learned Duelling Banjos on there. There is a section on the number. All the best George
