Hi All,
I have my amplifier set up clean, with the following settings:-
Bass @ 25% Middle @ 75% Treble @ 40%
All the tunes I play, I tend to use the above settings, and only change the settings on the guitar (ie pickup selection, vol, tone etc), and the MagicStomp. I suppose I've always done it this way from the days (long, long ago) when I was in a band, and once set never to be touched.
Just a thought, as some of the tunes I like to play have very different sounds and do not appear to be totally managed by guitar tweaking alone.
Am I alone in doing this, or do most of you change the amplifier settings to hone into the particular tune?
Guitar: Stratocaster US 1979 Amplifier: Roland Cube 30X Effects: Yamaha MagicStomp Mk2 Patches: Charlie's EFTP Backing Tracks: UB-HANK
One for Charlie: Does Hank have one set of amplifier settings on stage, or are they tweaked for different instrumentals by someone remotely off-stage?
Kind regards Roger

Hi Roger, Even when playing live, I am adjusting my amp for almost every number, mainly when I am changing pickup selections on the guitar. I use more bass when using the bridge pickup and have to back off the bass with other pickup selections. I can't work with just one setting. This is probably necessary as my amp has limited clean headroom so I can overdrive it when required, but even with more powerful amps I do the same, although they are too loud to use the amp's natural overdrive. Hank has always used a single setting on his amp when playing live as far as I know. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Many thanks for the info. I think I'll have to start twiddlin' then.
Kind regards Roger
