I tend to use 0-36 or 0-38 on the Q2 for most of the Hank solo numbers.
Could anyone tell me the correct patch for
Sylvia Oxygen 1V Mountains of the Moon.
Many thanks... Phil

Hi Phil, That is the range that Hank mostly chose as well, which included 0-37. The thing is to match the echo to the tempo, but this is a little more complicated as there are two basic ways of doing it with a different result for each. The RE-301 Mode 5 sound uses two heads, or delay taps. These are actually the second and third play heads on a real RE-301 and the distance between the second and third is more than double the distance from the record head to the second. With one method the first delay tap is used to match the tempo, the other method is to use the second delay tap to match the tempo. Although the distance between the two is kind of tempo related, in fact no tempo will match both taps at the same time, which causes one or the other to be off the beat. This is why the RE-301 Mode 5 echo has an interesting sound even though there are only two taps. Not sure about Sylvia. Going by the above you might find a usable setting using that method. Maybe 0-34, 0-35, or 0-36. I think Oxygene was program 0-37, 0-38, or 0-39 when Hank performed it on tours. One of those should give the right result. I suggested 0-12 to Hank for Mountains of The Moon for the 2004 tour. Although based on a Meazzi drum echo with an additional delay tap, and the tune was recorded much later, it sounded good to me. Regards, Charlie
