Hi Guys, here's a little story for you. last week i took my Custom usa Fender strat into the guitar store for a complete set up and new Pups. fat 50;s. as i couldn't get them right. was looking at a whole store full of new Fenders. but wanted another Fiesta Red!! no go !! don't make that color anymore ?? close but no cigar. anyway ended up at another store. and Guy said we don.t carry to many fenders anymore?? we now stock G&L. TRY ONE!! Nah! i said im a Fender man.. he hooked it up and gave it to me to play!!!! WOW!!! This Axe is the cats Meow! made by Leo Fender, and George Fulleton! check out Factory tour on you tube?? i bought the guitar then and there. its finish, workmanship. Hand built. is the best ive ever seen, heard and played... the sound is million dollar, on all Pups. i think my days of Fender made. are over. G&L for me... there is No Comparison along side my Fender strat, and Clapton custom built strat. its like owning a couple of new Mini's and a rolls royce. this one i bought is a strat style. color is like a orange/honey clear see thru. with breath taking Premeir high gloss finish. Pups are Hand made alinco type. and sound is crystal clear fantastic all round tone. body is Swamp ash. every part of the guitar far exceeds my Fenders by a country mile. certificate of Authenticity, paperwork and ten year warranty , plus super full hard case lines. if your in the market for a new strat type Axe. you gotta check G&L out. you wont buy a factory Fender again!! totaly hand built back in the Original Leo fender shop, by the Late Great Man himself. price on mine which is the Premier edition $1,399.00 thats about 750 uk pound. check them out on the web... ill post pics and sound files of mine soon... cheers Lou.

I've looked at and played some of these in my local guitar shop and they are indeed fine guitars. I've asked previously if anyone's done a direct side-by-side comparison between a US strat and the G&L equivalent but nobody so far responded so I'll be interested to hear some sample sounds. Regards, Martyn.

Hi Guys
I imported a G&L Commanche from the USA some time ago.
The quality was amazing and the tone was a lot more toppy than a strat, not that it was unuseable,it just needed taming a bit. I don't have the guitar anymore, and If I was going to get another G&L,I would go for a George Fullerton model, virtually a Strat copy but with a smooth rounded tone.
The Tribute Legacy range while being a cheaper version of the USA models, have the same pickups as the USA models, and sound just as good.
If you check out the well known auction site, and the well known auction site USA site you may come across a bargain,I did and I enjoyed the whole experience.

Hi Martyn. i will indeed make a sound file as soon as i can. very busy at the moment, i thought the cost of buying it was cheap!!! so far its cost me a new fridge/cooker, and maybe a new living room suite!! hummm. however to answer your question, i think the sound and sheer quality far exceeds the so called mass produced fenders. i own a custom ordered Eric clapton strat, almost twice theprice of the G&L plus my 90 fender fiesta strat. and the don't come close. But Hey! thats my opinion! you need to read the comments from other buyers/ ive yet to find a bad one. the G& L i bought is the Premier Legacy. has two tones switches. that works on All Pup's so you can vary any Pup you have switched to. i love the thing, had it not been for the sales guy in the store i would'nt have given it a second thought. go try one out you Will be AMAZED! Alan im not sure about the Comanchie, as for its sound tone! but as you agree the Quality is superb. mine is registered and Signed certificate by Mrs Philis [leo] Fender, and the late George Fullerton . Again search the web/ you tube/ etc. very interesting, maybe you might buy another.. cheers guys Lou.

Hi Lou I have read amazing reviews on all the g&l models and the cheaper tribute models seem like amazing value!! Unfortunately the price you paid in dollars for your USA made g&l is what it would cost in £'s over here (basic legacy costs nearly £1500) . Us brits seem to get a pretty raw deal over here, especially with the pound being so weak and dreaded V.A.T regards Chris

Hi Alan, i didn't want to!! but i did. yes that seems a very good deal. i looked at the very same one in the store, here in Canada. but chose the Legacy, as it was a type of red. [ more orange realy ] as my original idea was a new Fiesta RED!! had i not been like a little kid in a candy store and could'nt wait to get it home and play it. i could have ordered a nice bright Red and White one, thats almost Fiesta Red. however i have grown into this color. as said before pop into a store and try one out! you Will be Amazed. Regards Lou
