I was starting to wonder who was going to post first! This world cup has been full of surprises and there will be many more to come, however never write off any of the EU teams, look back in time and you will see that the EU teams always leave it late! ..........

Roberto,
The European teams just want to take it easy so that they will not be too tired in the next round not like the South American teams.

I see Thierry Henry has been summoned before the headmaster (i.e. the President) to explain France's poor performance. Why him, I wonder, and not the team captain or coach?

Well, England’s cunning plan worked. To play rubbish in the first 2 games and lull teams like Brazil & Argentina into a false sense of security!!!!

Tony Thierry Henry is the team captain, and the coach's contract has ended. I guess that the real new coach will be the President himself ! Didier

Some British humor on the English team that just hit us in Canada.
Osama bin Laden has just released a new TV message to prove he is still alive. He said that the England Team performance on Saturday was completely s**t. British intelligence have dismissed the claim, stating that the message could have been recorded anytime in the last 44 years.
Robert Green - The only man to leave Africa with out catching anything .
In a statement from broadcasting house, all future England games will now be shown on the gay porn channel. It is thought that 11 arseholes being regularly shafted is too explicit for regular TV.
I can't believe we only managed a draw against a s**t team we should easily have beaten......I'm ashamed to call myself Algerian.
The England team went to visit an orphanage in South Africa this morning, "its so good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling, and facing the impossible" said Jamal Omboto, aged 6.
Fifa have released a statement saying the fan didn't break into the dressing room after all, but was let in by Rob Green.
What's the difference between Rob Green's spill and BP's spill? - Robert Green has got a cap for his.

Did anyone see that Italy v Slovakia game today ?. The world cup is beginning to get going. I was surprised that Italy took so long to begin to play like they can. If they had played all game like they did in the final 20 minutes they could have won by 5 goals.
Still well done Slovakia and another big team is going home early.

Hi All:
This is really a strange Football Cup....... Before it have starting I thought that England could be a nice surprising....but a good surprising...playing a nice football and with great matches..... Not what we saw.....as other favorites too....
For me this 2010 Cup...it's undersized....... The main artists are the ball and the vuvuzelas sound..... Who is the great player? Maybe only Messi........
And maybe we can have more surprises in the next week....All it's possible.....
Main deceptions: France.....Italy....England.....Spain....and my Brazil....... Brazil can play a lot better than this......
Nice teams (but not a surprise to me): USA and Chile
Next week we'll be have another surprises?? Maybe
Cheers from Brazil! Roberto

Tomorrows match will be one to watch, Brazil v Portugal, I'm looking forward to that one I agree with Les, the last 20 minutes Italy were looking impressive, more like a winning team, sad they left it too late I still think the Italy goal was not offside, the defenders foot was clearly closest to the goal

I see the Germans have come up with a novel way of predicting the England match tomorrow! news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/10420131.stmNote that it says he got 4 out of 6 predictions correct. Mystic Meg can do better than that!

Hi Phil:
This time we didn't play anything....... and our players lost his nervous....and they don't play nothing in the second half... It's a great shame this Brazilian performance....Really a great shame....with a great stupid coach......that thinks that Felipe Melo plays football. In the second half I saw a men's team (Netherlands) and another team only claiming and playing nothing.... But I must to say that in this Cup it's a more shaming competition with so much referee mistakes...... Was penalty in Kaka in the first half...... Well...as England and Brazil (my favorites ones to win this Cup) had falling out in the middle of the road....the Cup for me it's over...!!!!
Cheers from a crying Brazil! Roberto

Roberto What can I say. I thought Holland would give you a good game but that Brazil would get through. A good second half performance by Holland and Sneijder who I thought ran the game was just enough. Perhaps Dunga was just a bit too conservative with his selection and being more defensively minded than Brazil usually are. On another day it would have worked. I'm not bothered about the other match tonight but will be very interested in the game tomorrow and whose countries names I don't really want to mention - you know who they are!!! Regards Phil

Hi Roberto and especially Phil,
England and Brasil are really great football nations, but this year a young German team is playing a very good football, and after this match against Argentina I think everything is possible ......
Cheers,
Gerd

Hi Roberto,
It's difficult to take when your country are knocked out of the world cup but you will get over it in a few days . It was especially difficult, for me, when England were knocked out by Germany but I have just watched the Germany v Argentina game and I have to say Germany are playing some fantastic football. They are doing what the other teams aren't playing simple pass and go football with Schweinsteiger bossing the middle of the field. It's not easy for me to say this but Germany must be the favorite to win it now.

España han sido los ganadores este noche contra Paraguay!
Oops, must write English ;D My adopted country Spain, beat Paraguay to go forward and meet Germany in the World Cup semi-finals. I'm not really an aficionado of football, but I will predict that Germany will beat Spain on penalties after extra time.

After the England/Germany game I said to my brother that we would see how good Germany really were when they played Argentina. We now have the answer and I await with interest the Germany v Spain game. This German team reminds a lot of my team, Nottingham Forest under Brian Clough during our halcyon days of the late 70s/early 80s – hard working, compact and no prima donnas!

Hi my friends:
Football it's the Brazilian passion....and 190 millions had watched in TV this very poor Brazilian performance...For who like football and follow all the Cups....this Brazil team was so bad as that formed to the 1990 Cup or worse.... I can only say that performance of Brazilian team was a really shame. For long months all the local football media press told for who want to listen that the players that was selected by Dunga wasn't the best ones, mainly in the middle-position where Brazil always make difference.... Gilberto Silva, Felipe Mello and Kaka (without physical conditions) are a joke of bad taste...... Maybe they could be the names more famous....but here in Brazil we have dozens of better players (not so famous....) playing here in Brazil ....not in Europe. There are a local general opinion that if Dunga call some local team, as San Paulo or Santos or Flamengo and give then the Brazilian shirt and put to play as Brazil team....it will be better...... Thanks to God...the Dunga's era it's over and I hope that we could learning something with this stupid Brazilian performance.
Reassuming: a) Netherlands 2 vs Brazil 1: Brazil lost for himself....In the first half was so easy that they prefer go to sleeping in the second half....Who back to play the second half wasn't the Brazil team..... b) Germany 4 vs Argentina 0: In fact Germany team confirm what are their intentions...They are playing the best football in this Cup....since the begining.... Argentine team didn't not loose to him-selves (as Brazil)...They loose for a better team and for a better tactics....... Spain 1 vs Paraguay 0: I'm not so sure about Spain....Paraguay had played a great match ....and (imho) don't deserve lost this match....That Cardozo penalty lost....was something without explications..... as the Ghana penalty lost in the the last minute against Uruguay......
If there was something of logical in this not so god World Cup....my vote it's for Germany to win. They deserve it as they was the best team on the Cup........
Now ....we will be waiting all these teams in Brazil for the next one Football World Cup...
Cheers from Brazil Roberto

Hi Roberto, They probably wanted a Maradonna on the field to make a difference. I have to say, I have seen Maradonna play a lot of times over the years and I still think he is the best footballer I've ever seen. Condolences Tony
