Up until about a year ago, all the Fenders I'd had came with the normal Medium Jumbo frets. I then bought a 57 reissue strat with Vintage frets.
Now whenever I go back to the strats with the Medium Jumbo frets they look and feel like huge lumps of metal.
Which frets does everyone on here prefer?
Cheers Barry

I have always preferred vintage frets and believe the smaller radius helps the note definition, although they do wear out much more quickly. Regards, Charlie

hi barry. thats an intresting point you raise. i play different strats that i own at random. (which is difficult with only one pick ;D). they have different size frets but i find that after playing a short time i seem to just ajust to whatever is there. i think its just a matter feel. i find the same with playing a squier then a usa strat you seem to ajust hearing and touch as you go. so i dont seem really favour any type. but i`m only a home player no giging ect so only me to please. peter

HI BARRY -from OZ-BARRY & ALL members , I don't like the jumbo-mumbo frets at all & go to lengths to linnish the vintage fret edges with a fine file & 1000-grit wet&dry emery paper to get a smoooooth feel &I am not a very good player but sliding notes is much much easier as well& they don't feel like ''railway-lines''.. MY son has a top of the range ''ibanez'' [costalot] & its bl*dy awfull ,as he playes ''heavy-metal'' stuff ''UUGGG'' & when he plays my guitars he loves the feel of the smooth fret board.. THats ''M.O.P.O. CHEERS ''aussie'' barry..
