Hi Everyone,
There are a million tips to achieve Hank's sound, but I can't find any to replicate Bruce's gear/ settings etc.
Sorry if it has been covered before.

Hi zip, I don't think there is much needed other than the guitar setup and a good sounding amp, and the occasional use of a chorus effect, in Bruce's case I think this comes from the built in chorus of the Roland RE-301. He seems to always use the middle pickup on the Strat. Regards, Charlie

Anyone know if Bruce generally used any echo, as Charlie mentioned he may have used some Chorus Effect via the RE-301.
I am trying to add a Bruce (Rhythm) part to some old Shads midi files I have. Having looked at many YouTube videos, as Charlie also mentioned Bruce does use the middle pickup a lot of the time but there is little information of any effects between the guitar and Amp.
I read on another forum someone saying adding a little simple echo effect can make the rhythm part sound fuller.
Any advice welcome.

Hi Glen, I don't believe Bruce ever used echo. I wouldn't add anything to the basic sound except perhaps a small room reverb (short reverb for ambience), and of course a chorus effect where it would have been used. Regards, Charlie

Keep in mind the Bruce often used an acoustic guitar for studio recording. He borrowed Cliff's J200 for Apache...

I notice Bruce has a spare pick wedged in his pickguard, I don't know if that's a different thickness or just a spare? Matthew

Bruce's guitar sound is pretty basic, electric and acoustic, but apart from the main sound, there is also the strumming technique he uses, sometimes very fast, also as well as open chords, he uses bar ones but usually without the first finger bar.
If your trying to produce his early recorded stuff, then that's a different matter, mainly not much to do with what Bruce is doing but what's being done in the control room and quite a lot to do with delayed overspill onto other mics, reverb, usually with a long predelay and with panning, but not always used or noticeable.
