During my recording for the "Man of Mystery" I tried my various amps to see which would give the best sound for me.
I recorded the track many times using Fender Twin Reverb 1976 with JBL speakers, Vox AC 15 (The new Chinky one) with "Blue Speaker"
I also tried my Fender Sidekick Reverb 25w with 8" speaker. All recorded with a Shure SM57.
The "Twin" has a beautiful clean tone, the Vox seemed a bit "bassy"
The Sidekick was bright but on playback fitted the tune quite well.
Then as a goodwill gesture to my neighbors I also recorded through my POD XT PRO one track being AC30 TB the other AC15.
The track I chose, and is the one posted here was the POD AC15.
As I havent played in public for 30+ years and just do it all in my home studio, do I really need all those amps?
I am siding on the "Amp Sim" side as the benefits are, its quiet, you can record "dry" and re-amp the signal and change to any amp you have installed, and sits in a rack or on the desk and is a lot lighter.
I also have my old PODv2 kidney bean shape which is great for practising sitting in the armchair.
What do others think....

The £19 Korg ampworks is magnificent. Any amp you want..... no mauling about.... straight into the PA when annoying the rest of the Hankies on Tuesdays. All of my recorded soundfiles use it and icing on the cake you can put a bit of compression on.

I would say that the Fender Twin is too much amp even for most live gigs! Definitely not much use for home recording unless you have nothing else. Regards, Charlie
