Charlie, could you advise me which Midi Buddy pedal I should purchase for my Q.2. I have had one of your Q.2's for many years with your E.F.T.P which our lead guitarist uses in our 60's group. I purchased another Q.2 second hand with your E.F.T.P as a backup just in case it went faulty(I have had no trouble with it at all) I have had a Rolls Midi Buddy 128 pedal which again the lead guitarist uses, and I have tried to purchase one in the U.K, been on the internet, and I could not find one in the U.K. Can you tell me which one to get, and is there an alternative ?
The name of our group is, "Tommy J and the Midnights" how 60's is that. I find this site brilliant.
Hope you can help.
Tony Holden.

Hi Tony, I like the Rolls pedals because of their simplicity and intended use for patch changing only, and because they have the full 10 pedals (instead of 5 as offered by Roland in their FC-50). You could use other brands but the more complicated ones like Behringer and ART can cause odd things to happen and can even change the patch parameters accidentally. I think the MP128 is the latest model, the one before that was the MIDI Buddy, and before that the MP80 (I have one and it is also good but has 8 pedals instead of 10). Any of these should work well but you will have to look for secondhand examples of the MIDI Buddy or MP80. They should all work from a power supply such as the Boss 9 volt ACA or PSA, so unless specifically supplied with a unit, you would have to purchase the power supply separately. A regulated supply is not required but it doesn't matter either way. Regards, Charlie

Thanks for replying so soon Charlie, I have been on the internet to try and get the Rolls Midi Buddy to no avail, they all are U.S.A based offering to ship me one, do you know where I can get one in this Country? I have tried numerous stores be phone Saturday but to no avail, some of them did'nt know what I was talking about, so if you can advise me who to contact I would be obliged.
Thanks. Tony Holden.

Hi Tony, I also have been unable to find a supplier online in the UK. Nothing at all on the well known auction site either. I don't know whether you have tried Andertons or GAK, they might have something if you haven't tried them. Regards, Charlie

Hi Tony, I have two of those, they are used but work just fine. I kept one for a spare, but seldom use it. Unfortunately I'm in the US so shipping would perhaps be the main cost. As your last option, let me know if I can help. Please send me a PM. Regards. Johan.

Hi Charlie, and friends, I have been offered one of these Midi Buddy pedals from one of our friends on this site. What a friendly site this is, long may it reign.
Thanks again friends. Tony Holden.

Hi all, By way of information.. I had trouble finding the Rolls Midi buddy here in NZ. I purchased the Rocktron Midi Mate. It works a treat on the Q20. It has the ten foot switches, also supports pages so it has stacks of room for recall. It also has a large LED alpha screen so you can see the name of the tune you have recalled. (you have to enter that manually) It supports midi channels so you can control more than one device at the same time. About to test this with now owning a second Q20 so have best of both worlds.. an EFTP Q20 and a factory Q20 they compliment each other very well. So far it has not missed a beat.. all good. You can get info' on it at www.rocktron.comI know Tony has been fixed up but as this subject comes up quite a bit, this just gives another one to consider that does work with the Alesis Q20 can't vouch for any other models as I have not used it with anything else. Just for general info' Cheers Ray NZ
