as I understand from other threads, seems good arrangement for early HM sound to put an ARIAB/CuttingEdge or Gemini III between the ECHO machine and amp, then setting at minimum BASS n TREBLE knobs, and rotating CUT control for the best treble balance response. but the best thing is this recomandation from Charlie: charliehall.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=amps&thread=6489&page=1#50551In TBX model, TB stands for TopBoost and X stands for Celestion Blue (if I m right). Does somebody knows if Celestion Blue is made in China or England? If made in China does it sound different from ones that were made in England?

Hi benitor, The Celestion Blue is still made in the UK as far as I know. The Vox Blue is made in China and I think has been for maybe about 3 years, maybe more. They are essentially the same speaker, but the cones are different. Some people have said they hear a difference between the two. Regards, Charlie

Hi Keith
Guitar to echo to the vintage unit. No ariab's or cutting edge filters needed. looking at the unit in front of you position 1 is fully left and has some bass freq's cut, position 2 is the one you want this is the equivalent of the old bright switch in the on position, position 3 has some low freq's cut but a different part of the spectrum compared to position 1, position 4 is like plugging in to an old AC015 with the bright switch turned off.
Cheers
Scott

It's a great sounding amp and i'm pleased you like it With regards to the exact year it was made - no i don't know. I got it new in the very late nineties... (possibly 98...) Unfortunately with British Vox gone they can't look up the serial number on their records. Mark.
