Hi,
I have recently (couple of weeks ago) signed up to 4Shared so I could post a sound file, also Internet Explorer 9 decided to install itself on my computer. I don't know if these are just coincidence but now when I try to listen to a sound file posted on 4Shared it no longer gives me the opportunity to just press the mp3 'play' arrow, I now have to download the mp3 to here it.
Anyone else having this problem, I've checked the IE9 security settings and all seem to be normal.
Glen

Check that you have the lastest Flash Player for IE9. It is the most common reason for your problem.

Hi Andy
I upgraded from version 10.1 to 10.2 (something) but unfortunately it made no difference, even after rebooting the computer. I could find nothing else on the internet about this so out of desperation I un-installed IE9 and went back to IE8 - now everything is back to normal within 4shared.
I find it very annoying why companies such as Microsoft 'fiddle' with settings that invariably screw something up in their customers computers.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Hi Glen, in IE9, if you click on tools, compatability view settings, a box will pop up giving you the option of adding the website you are viewing to the comatability view list. this will solve the problem. Regards. Duncan.

Are you running Windows 7? Have you tried the other browsers, Firefox, Google Chrome etc? I am pretty sure this is a flash problem, you can run it in compatability mode as Duncan has said, but it is better to find the problem and fix it.
Try firefox and see if you have the same problem.

Duncan I've clicked on tools in IE9 but can't find the Compatibility view settings. Andy IE8 works perfectly without any further setting adjustments. I'm using Win 7 Pro x64 on 3 computers I have access to and the same problem happens on all three, so its something introduced by the IE9 update. I have tried Firefox before, gave it about two weeks but didn't like it. I also use a spell checker called iespell, it still works in IE9 but normally if it finds a mis-spelt word, the word is highlighted, now with IE9 this no longer happens. I'll stick with IE8 for now Glen

Ok Glen, it is without doubt a flash issue, and it looks like windows might have brought down an update that conflicts with it. Also if you have tried Firefox, make sure there is no trace of it on your system. If there is, it can cause the problems you are having as it thinks that certain parts of IE do one thing and Firefox does the other.
Sounds a little odd, but basically Firefox could be causing problems if there are traces of it in the system. If you have MSN messenger let me know in a PM you details, I can connect to your system via remote and have a look if you would like me to.
Regards
Andy

:)Hi Glen,
I may be barking up the wrong tree here but here is something that nobody has yet mentioned.
You are using Windows 7 -- but is it the 64-bit version or the 32-bit? If it is the 64-bit version, then it may be a problem with Flash like it is with me. I am waiting for Adobe Flash version 11 which is supposed to be compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows 7. There is apparently no Flash program that is yet compatible. It is a little annoying to be not able to view some YouTube clips at the moment. On this site, when I insert a smiley (or other graphic) here> it automatically appears right at the beginning of the post - as you can see. This occurred before Explorer 9 was available. This is, of course, only a minor inconvenience.
Adding 4-Shared to the compatibility list won't help much if it is simply a Flash problem as others have suggested though 4-Shared is not a problem for me personally with Explorer 9. We are finding that with Windows 7 64-bit, our printers are working fine since most software/hardware companies now have drivers that are compatible with 64-bit it would seem -- but not Flash, as yet. Adobe keep saying that Version 11 will fix all that but we will see I guess.
As I said earlier, I may be barking up the wrong tree but thought I would throw this one into the mix anyway. It might help somebody, if not you at this time Glen. However, I do hope you can sort out your problem one way or another of course Glen.
Regards, Len

Hi Glen I rarely use IE but on IE8 (and probably IE9) you can check under Internet Options - Programs - Manage add-ons if Flash and other add-ons are installed and enabled.
A lot of people will advise against this but I turn off auto updates and do them manually. I also chose the 32-bit version of Windows 7 as I have so many old programs (from way way back) and even some old hardware that I still use. Again a lot of people will say I'm not making the most of 64-bit capability and I know sooner or later I'll be forced to but in the meantime I can keep using the old software which still functions very efficiently. Unfortunately because of my fairly slow ADSL connection I always have to download the 4Shared audio files as streaming video stops and starts all the time. All the best Rosemary

Hi Len, Rosemary
Many thanks for your help with this annoying problem, but I think I have just fixed it.
Duncan was on the right track with Compatability settings, only in IE9 its not in the Tools menu, its a box next to the URL address window at the top. Only problem when I go onto the 4Shared site it did not appear so I couldn't change the compatability settings. I made it appear by going to Tools - Safety - Active X Filtering and turning this ON. The compatability option then appears at every web page, I clicked the compatability box for 4Shared now everything is working normally as in IE8.
