Rod, I used to have an XT Live, then upgraded to the X3 Pro. I have always got a good sound for Shads numbers using the basic AC15 model and tweaking the tone controls. For most of those instrumentals I don't use the delay settings on the pods (no multi-tap), but use a Quadraverb GT with EFTP. The key thing, I think, is the type of amp you are running into. I use an all-valve Full Range Flat Response power amp with no tonal colouring whatsoever. Running into a normal guitar amp is not good because of the colouring it adds to the modelled tone. Sorry if you already know all that!
Cheers
Noel

Hi Rod,
I agree with Noel, the XT Live is good for the amp modelling (AC15 or AC30), but not good for the Shads echoes.
I also found it much better in the effects loop of my amp (using the clean channel).
I have a Line 6 M13 to provide the echo effects, where it is possible to put 4 different echoes in a chain, thereby getting much better results. I use the XT Live and M13 in combination to get the desired effect.
Regards,
Duncan

I got a POD xt and have used it for the Vox models but the delays are not Shadows multitap stuff so I used my Magic stomp for the echos

Same here Rod, I have set up a Hank patch on my pod xt live using the AC15 amp sim and not using any internal effects (i.e, EQ) just setting the external tone controls. This is then routed to a Zoom RFX 2200. I have another patch as above, but using the Match 30 amp sim. As mentioned by other members, the xt live does not have multi tap facility. When gigging I don't use an amp, I go direct into the p.a.

Hi Rod,
I have an X3 Live, which has an effects loop (selectable pre or post) so I use an external MagicStomp/EFTP to generate the echoes. Does the XT live offer this facility? I know the X3 doesn't.
