Hi everyone Chloe here... Attached below is The savage. I have been learning this instro for about 3-5 months now and i completely love it !! I first started to learn it myself but then my Pop (Val Starr) taught me the rest of it. I would have to say that the hardest part would have to be the middle high bit that took me a while to get it right but i eventually got the hang of it. I hope you all enjoy... Charlie I am using your patch number 14 on my poppa's (poppastarr) echo. here is the link to the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmTkS1DLZ9gENJOOOY ;D

It's a great pleasure to hear Shadows' music played so well by a teenager. I hope you'll keep liking and playing this music !

Hi Chloe Very well done on learning this difficult tune! Like you, I started learning it but am totally stuck in the middle bit so it's great to see how you play it. (I might get some tips) You have excellent technique, sound and timing and it's a very impressive performance. Thanks for posting. Best wishes Rosemary

Hi Chloe,
That was awesome! It must have taken a lot of practice, especially on the middle section, to get it right. Also, it is great to see that, just like us old farts, girls in your age group are interested in playing these great old tunes from the early 1960's.
Keep up the good work!!
Cheers,
James

Hi Chloe
Exciting, very well played. Not an easy tune especially the middle.
You make it look so easy which is down to hard work, lots and practice and natural talent.
I repeat an exciting rendition which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Kind Regards
Ade

Hi Chloe! A superb rendition of one my favourite Shadows tunes. Great sound and very nice playing too. The middle section always catches me out but you nailed it perfectly. Thanks so much for sharing this with us Kind Regards Chris

Hi all I wish to thank you again for the compliments you have given my grand-daughter Chloe on her version of The Savage This was no doubt one of the hardest instro's she learn't due to the timing in the middle lead part. Even I have problems in getting the timing right. Of course there are many variations of that section. I think Chloe must have practised the piece in the middle a hundred times before we even got near it. Rosemary: What I do with Chloe is to make sure she she warms up with her scales before we post anything. I videowed her doing the Savage a number of times before I was happy to post it. I was almost going to post a video of her throwing her hands up in the air when things went wrong. I think we must have seen so many variations of the middle section that at the end I taught her what I recalled. What Chloe meant when she said you can take tips from her was, she doesnt mind you copying her as we also check out what others are doing anyway. I hope you don't think she was being facitious. When you said Chloe has technique, and timing well thats comes not from playing just the Shadows instro's but from scales I teach her, after all every tune is built around a scale. She does however have good timing which comes naturally to her and I taught her right from the start to use all her fingers, which makes technique. I hope I dont offend anyone out there because I have seen great players not use little pinky but if you are learning then I suggest learn to use pinkie you may have to readjust your playing but at the end it's worth it.
Regards and thank you everyone Val

Hi Val and Chloe Thanks for the tips:) I love watching videos of other guitarists and find them very helpful as I don't know any other players. I have all the Shadows DVDs but sometimes the camera moves just at a place where I'd like to see how Hank plays it so watching great videos like this one is a big help - almost like a tutorial. Look forward to more of your videos but I know that tricky ones like this take awhile to learn. Once again - very well played! Best wishes Rosemary

Hi Chloe, What a fantastic performance of The Savage. There are many very experienced players would struggle to pull this one off. You have a great talent. Best Wishes Regards Steve B

Hi Chloe -
WOW -
Im blown away by your playing ..you have a natural presence that makes this look so easy ...The savage was always a hard song to master and you just let your fingers do the talking....well impressed...well done...you are the guitar chick..

Hi Paul and to anyone I forgot, I don't get much time these days as I have got myself a part time job after school. But I still try to have a bit of time to learn some new tunes. I think everyone does a good version of their instro's and I am lucky that I have my poppa to teach me and give me short cuts. I have learnt Shindig it's a bit harder and I still am a bit jerky as pop says, so need a bit more practise at it. I have also learnt Starrs Fell On Stockton and Peace Pipe and later may put some on YouTube. I am also learning Bombora by the Atlantics so sorry it's not a Shadow instro but I do love the drumming like I did with the Savage. Thanks so much to everyone Chloe
