Hi, Does anybody on this site use a Jam Vox ? If so I would be grateful if you could help a technically challenged old timer to understand how it works Best regards, Maurice.

It works by attempting to remove the centre "channel" of a stereo recording. Most vocals and guitar solos (like Hanks) are usually in the middle of the stereo soundstage. Using software the vox unit tries to remove this central sound... by all accounts not all that successfully. If you want to experiment with removing centre sounds theres a free piece of software called "analog X vocal remover" it works with programs like wavelab and sound forge.

There are many softwares which can do the same, but like with Jam Vox, it dooesn't always works. It all depends on how the recording was made and mixed. I works on some Shadows recordings (altough there are often some remains of the lead sound), but not all. Didier

Hi John, Keith and Didier, Many thanks for your replies. I do know what the Jamvox is supposed to do but I am having problems with importing songs from a CD. After following the instructions I am left without the imported songs in any of the library lists and I cant play any of the songs in the Jamvox library. In fact I just dont seem to be able to play anything except drum tracks. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Best regards,
Maurice.

Hi, It looks like I have a faulty unit so it is going back to the supplier for testing. Thank you all for your comments.
Best regards,
Maurice.

Hi, Just been informed the Jamvox is faulty and have been given a full refund Could anyone recommend a similar unit for use as a practice aid. I like the idea of the Jamvox but I'm not impressed with it's reliability.

How does the Boss JS8 E-Band compare to the Jam Vox? I briefly had a Jam Vox but parted with it because it wasn't what I really required. Always meant to try the Boss JS-8 but have never quite got round to it. I always thought the Boss looked much better on paper, but are there any owners in our midst who care to share their own Boss JS-8 experiences?
