I've never posted one here before but remembered I'd uploaded this one to YouTube last week so thought I might as well post it here before it gets too out of date (i.e. Wishful thinking maybe - but I always hope my later versions will be better than the older ones although that's not always the case. Also it has fewer playing errors than my usual offererings. www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8cGBP11RDgBest wishes Rosemary

Hi Rosemary,
This is better than your previous versions, a few very slight timing differences to the original, and your tremolo work is a little "shy" but I did notice that you had more time to grab the tremolo arm without a momentary panic attack, a good sign that you are more comfortable with playing this now. Keep up the good work, I enjoy watching your progress.
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Rosemary
Nicely played, smooth, nice warm sound, I enjoyed this a lot. I agree with the comments made by Chris reagarding the tremolo. A little bit more would add a new dimension.
Keep up the great work.
Kind Regards
Ade

Hi Rosemary,
You play it very well, and you do the pickup selection by the book!I agree with others that you could use the trem a little bit more! I think the original has a lot of compression added to the guitar if you go for that sound! Do you have a compression pedal?I think that there are only a few Shads songs where it would be useful to use one to get "that sound".Others may disagree. Regards Bo

Hi Bo Thanks very much. I don't have a compression pedal yet but remember enquiring about them several months ago. I think it was suggested I leave that for some time in the future when I'm a more advanced player so I can be sure I'm picking at an even volume. I'll definitely keep it in mind though as a way to get a better sound later on. Thanks again. Best wishes Rosemary

Well played Rosemary, you are playing with a lot more fluency, a lot of players don't bother switching to the neck pup for the last muted bit, just mute using br pup

Thanks very much Keith I also need to learn the last chords or double stops as I only play single notes there. Best wishes Rosemary

Hi Rosemary
I enjoyed your rendition of Atlantis. I can see you have certainly improved over time and do agree with others re the tremelo which puts life into the instro's. Maybe I should comment more often to other players posting and I do listen to many of the sound files on the site and thoroughly enjoy the varied players. You can learn something from everyone.
Regards Val

Hi Val Thanks very much. Unfortunately I'm having endless problems with the tremolo arms of both guitars. This video was with the American Strat and the trem is a bit loose on that one still. I thought the Mexican Strat's trem arm was fixed last week but yesterday it had become loose again (although for awhile it was perfect and I felt I was making progress with the technique). I think I need to get a proper spring for it (and for both really) but they seem impossible to find here. Anyway sooner or later I'll work something out. Thanks again Best wishes Rosemary

As I said I am no expert but I can also have a look when you come over next week.
Are you using plumbers tape on them?

Hi Peter That would be great! Thanks! I'll bring it over. It was working really well until a couple of days ago with the temporary spring and then suddenly got loose again. That's the green Mexican Strat. It has plumber's tape but I haven't put any more on it since the spring was placed in it as it was difficult to get the spring in. Best wishes and thanks again Rosemary
