HI amanda &all ,,that'a little ripper ,and should satisfy all those that require ''bedroom'' amps as often enquired about on this site.. the power reduction feature should be a winner for those with ''thin-wall's'' between neighbour,s,,,etc etc.. ON the sugject of amplifier's my ac50-h/made project has hit a brick-wall as the tranny's that I had used [as I acquired them from a very old chassis , no specification's on them at all ] ,,,it turns out that the out-put trans is for pa use & requires a step down transformer to be able to use with a 8ohm etc speaker,,I have only discovered this this week by firing it up [power amp only ,as I have yet to finish the preamp section ,so I tested it using ,preamp out on my marshall 5212 amp,... ALSO the transformer's are so large & extremly heavy I have , now been looking at new trans formers on the web etc & have discovered the cost's [weber &hammond] many $$$$$$$$$. AND with our depleted dollar to US dollars I have canned the project for the time being... But as the ''marshall 75 watt 5212 combo ,with 12'' celestion ''150 watt side-winder speaker, made in UK amp is not good for the older sound ,MY son want's to buy from me & I have found an ''aussie 50 watt valve head using EL34 valves 12ax7's etc ''head '' ''new'' but discontinued stock at a price cheaper than I can buy the tranny's so It look's like I may go that way..'I can alway's modify the circuit etc & I would have all the spare valves etc that I bought for the project unit... CHEERS from ''OZ''.......................barry..ps this pic was my proposed chassis power-amp only ,was to live in the bottom of cab but in retrospect so heavy & tall transformer's made the el34's seem small ,, too old as I now realise &no proper info on them only trial &error , but I had them & gave them a go but now back to the drawing board,,,,

Hi Barry, That's bad news about the output transformer. Still, maybe if you get the newer amp it will be easier to modify it into what you want. Regards, Charlie

YES charlie I was disappointed although I alway's knew it was a bit of a gamble ,as the old tranny's had no specification plate on them & almost look home-built? very heavy & large old fashioned etc the power trans may have been ok but I suspect also is our old 210votage & not the now 240 v main's,& when I did this test there was quite a humming noise [mechanical noise at the tranny it self , ] .. NEVER MIND we do try these thing's ,but on the brighter side I can alter the cab to make it become just a speaker cab still with the 15'' & 12'' & it will be lighter & easier to move around.. THE proposed valve head has been reduced to a third of original price ,but only 5 left in australia so I had better decide quick.. cheers charlie.....................barry ..
