I think it is a pedal that was supposed to replicate the DeArmond tone section of their Tone/Volume pedal. I haven't tried one but apparently it doesn't work very well. I suspect from what I have heard that it might contain a single pot, whereas the original DeArmond had a double ganged pot, one section 250K and the other section 500K. It might be possible to modify one to upgrade it to a double ganged pot if there is room for one, but you would have to improvise with getting the two different track values in the same double pot. Regards, Charlie

At a previous "ShadTech" meeting, we had a comparative test between a genuine DeArmond, a Burns Shad-O-Tone and a Fender reissue volume/tone pedals. The Burns pedal raised little enthusiasm, the Fender one was found as a better substitute for the now difficult to find DeArmond.

It appears that there is a double ganged pot in the Burns. It also mentions that the design has been improved to correct some of the loss of volume. Probably that is why it sounds different. Regards, Charlie

I just looked at the video. As far as I could tell, when the pedal was turned to the right the treble increased correctly, but the bass did not seem to drop quite as much as with the DeArmond. That could be a good thing so as to eliminate some of the volume loss that the DeArmond has. Regards, Charlie
