Hi all, I would like your views on string spacing.
Do you prefer each string be equally spaced from centre to centre, so that the five distances between the six strings are equal as measured from the string centre?
Or, do you prefer the clear spacing between each string to be equal which would mean that the centre to centre spacing of the thicker strings would be further apart?
Also, do you prefer the space between the sixth and first strings and the fingerboard edge to be half the string spacing or less than that?
TIA,

Hi Bill, When cutting a nut I do it so that the spacing appears to be equal rather than actually being equal from centre to centre. At the bridge end, there isn't much control over the spacing on most guitars but I have no problem with the equal centres. I like there to be some space between the outer strings and the fingerboard edges, just sufficient so that the string will not accidentally fall over the edge at any time. I also like to see each respective outer string reasonably parallel to its fingerboard edge. Regards, Charlie
