I was just thinking would it be possible to have live chat via skype cause there doesn't seem to be many on at the same time and my computer is on 24/7 I could host a channel and give the password to Charlie so that when people register with our site it could be given to them in the confirmation e-mail
Or do you think I'm being to adventurous
let me know what you think
Regards John
PS I used to use this on multiplayer games

Hi John, This site has its own chat feature in case you didn't know. I don't think it gets used much though. Regards, Charlie

Hi John, I'm with you now. I'm for it in principle, however, the confirmation email is automated and there would be no way that I know of to change what it reads. The only way I can think to make it work for members that want to use it, would be to send a PM asking for the password. The answer may not be quick, it depends when I visit the site, which is a number of times every day, but sometimes I can't do that every day. Regards, Charlie

Hi John, I've never used skype, I believe that when it became popular the bandwidth restrictions resulted in poor sound. Obviously, there are pros and cons, the advantage of posting messages is that people can pick them up when it's convenient to them and as we have members all over the world it allows a kind of 'time shifting'.
On the plus side, Skype could be useful as an additional option in general and specifically to help talk members through a setup or other problem, especially if they are on the other side of the world where international calls would be prohibitive.
Could one of our members volunteer to try it out with you? Then go ahead, set it up and post instructions for the rest of us.

Hi Barry, yes. I have to admit I've never used the chat room either! John's suggestion gives us another option though (no typing).
