Hi Dick, Great find! Duane Eddy may appear to be a slow player (a bit like Hank is perceived to be by some) but is apparently very accomplished at finger picking. Also may be of interest, Marty Stuart who hosted the show has Clarence White's old sunburst Tele, the same one that was on many of the later Byrds recordings, although the bridge pickup is not the original that Clarence had when he owned the guitar. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie look here www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8w0B0QCLXg from 1975 for some "finger picking" from Duane. I've been listening to his music since 1958 and still find the old stuff fresh & interesting (and surprisingly difficult play correctly & get the recorded sound!), like you I've heard all the "only uses 1 string & 3 chords" type of comments ;D Someone told me a while ago that Hank "only plays 1 note at a time" It's good to see guitars with "history" still being played on stage, thanks for the info. Cheers Dick

Hi Dick, Thanks for the link, it's great. I knew he was a better player than many people probably reckoned him to be. He even gets the right kind of sound for the style. Regards, Charlie

Rebel Rouser, one of the most basic and easiest melody lines to play, still has that magic spark that many accomplished shredders never manage to find.

I`m gonna be different here, I never liked Duane Eddy when I was younger, only recently did I begin to appreciate him more. But I never knew he could fingerpick like that Canonball Rag - I`m finally converted

Hi All Here's another look at Duane playing live, a track from the "Duane Eddy" album from the late 80's. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlMkKXztIDoThis album is well worth looking out for, not least for the "who's who" of musicians that contributed to it. Cheers Dick.

More like his usual style, though I did notice that he appeared to have a thumb pick. Regards, Charlie

Hi guys this is my first posting here, I am also well into Hank & The Shads music and have been since I first saw them here in Port Elizabeth South Africa in 1961 and again in 1963. I have always liked Duane's twangy Sound and tunes like Dance to the Guitar man anf Rebel Rouser. I wonder if any of you could perhaps help with a "Duane type of Patch" for the Zoom G21U please? (EFTP installed ) I use a strat 50th anniversay HBM model. The Amp is a restored 1967 Bandmaster Kind Regards Johann (Jo)

Hi Jo
Welcome to Charlie's site.
Try factory patch 38 on your Zoom, it works well for me with a strat (neck pup) ;D
Charlie has also programmed in his patch (C6, I think)
Cheers
Dick
