Thanks for the help guys, I'll take a look.
It could be the same problem as with Chris's pickups though, lots of import duty, taxes and shipping costs to add on.
Cheers Barry

Barry
It had completely slipped my mind the amount of extra charges your govt slaps on you. Down here we are very lucky in that respect. As long as the price is under a Au $1000 it doesn't attract duty as I buy most of my gear from overseas, mainly due to the fact I can buy it cheaper including postage than locally.
Regards John

HI CHARLIE & ALL ,,Well charlie I think you had some input into the p/up's he built for john & on speaking to ''J.C''[pickup builder] those spec's were very close to his vintage set that he builds ,so only minor alteration's were needed & these are what he is building for me !! I have ordered an ''additional'' bridge p/up with alnico 5 in the 3 bottom pos & 3x alnico2 in the top 3 position's,, to experiment with ?.. After a 1 hour phone conversation with him I can see he is a genuine fellow with a lot of knowledge of electronic's and has a fulltime job in a telephone company & will be doing this [p/up building & rewinding of customers faulty p/up,s etc] & when he retire's it will be a small business for him...... Until hearing about him from john's message I was looking to buy another set of c/s fat-fifties ,but I feel he will deliver the good's as they say and if I don't try them I will not ''know'' & it would be nice to be able to have someone like''J.C" to make up special pickup's to suit our needs & converse with him about them .. And afterall he is now a ''member here and a shadow's fan as well!!!! and of course he is an ''aussie'' ha.haaar'' and as a coincedence he lives in the same place george-lewis lives but does not know him as yet!!! I will yet you know my feeling's on the p/up's when recieved & fitted in my strat & I well know that the body-wood etc will not be the same as my squier & hope that my ''US'' strat is a good combination of neck & body..BUT I will give them a ''fair-go'' & try them in my squier as well!!!!!!!! Well I found the guy to be very helpfull and friendly & I wish him all the best in his venture.. CHEERS,, BARRY..

Hi Barry, If you are going to try them in both guitars, that will be very interesting. I wish John a lot of luck selling these pickups, it certainly seems like he has made customers happy from what I've heard. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie and Friends
Check out the Lindy Fralin pickups from the USA. Only on sale at Chandlers guitars at Kew and expensive. However, i guess you can get them on line direct.
These are in my view one of the best Strat replacement pickups on the market especially their 'real' 54's.
I heard Strats fitted with Fralin pickups and they sound superb. I was particularly impressed with the middle and neck pickups that had depth, clarity and super definition unlike some that sound muddy and too warm. Regards Peter

Regards Peter The price for the Real 54s shown and the Chandler site is not a bad one really. The Fralin site has them at $220 and by the time the taxes have been added at roughly 25% and the postage included you're not far off the £189 quoted. I have to agree with the sound of the Fralins though, they do sound good especially in an Ash body. Cheers Barry
