Where can I find information about Alan Brason Strats? I keep hearing about them, and I've long admired Phil MacGarrick's - it can be seen very clearly on some of his excellent videos, but when I try to find out more about them all I end up on is the Schaller website where Alan gets a mention. How do they compare with the CS, NOS and Masterbuilt Strats, how long does it take to get one and how much do they cost? It would be lovely if there was a website for his guitars.

Hi Len,
Well on the Schaller website under 'contact' there is a list of guitar makers and if you search that for Alan Brason it gives an address and a telephone number.
I've not tried contacting him myself though.

Thanks gents,
Steve, I remembered you posting those photos a while back, I obviously wasn't taking any notice of the name back then. I enjoyed your playing on the video too. I'd have expected an audience like Shadowfix to give you a bit more attention!
Regards, Len

As is (possibly) well known around the Forums, Alan made my Strat in 2006 and is simply the best Strat I have ever played - and heard! And I've had a few! ;D If you contact him, you will find him very affable and plain speaking and a thoroughly decent bloke. Cost is relative to the Spec you want - he will do anything from making you a neck to a full build. The overall cost of my HBM 40th Anniversary technical copy was less than a third, (YES - THIRD) of buying a "real" one and we know that some of the 40 that Fender made had "issues" shall we say. You won't regret talking to Alan. cheers PS - Decals added by me. Alan will not badge them up "Fender" or anything else for copyright reasons. If you want to do that for your own enjoyment, that is up to you. Ian

I second what Ian has said.
Alan has done a lot of work for me over the years, and he will be doing some more in Jan next year, time is already booked.
Ian,what pickups are on the Strat in the pictures?

Hi Alan Kinman FV's. Bought them second-hand off the well known auction site in 2006 for less than £100 IIRC. Was after the more modern Hank sound and, despite a few views on some Forums to the contrary, I think that they DELIVER. I think PhilMcG has the same pups in his. cheers ian

Alan built my Strat a few years ago and it's fabulous and stands up well to anything Fender produced including Custom Shop models. I was proud to ask Alan to put his made on the Neck. Bill

I have to admit that a little dribble ran down my chin when I looked at these 2 guitars. They are beautiful and as the owners think they sound as good as they look then I have to get one. I've promised myself once I get one of these I won't be looking for anything else......my collection will be complete. Regards Kevin

I'd like to add my recommendation of Alan's work.
He built a '52 Telecaster for me and a beautiful bird's eye maple neck for my '57 vintage reissue Strat.
The workmanship is second to none and at a remarkably low price.

I agree with rogera,
Alan is doing some work for me at the moment, actually it's quite a lot but the price is more than reasonable.
He get's my order every time, and dare i say his guitars are better than custom shop.
At least if you have a question or a problem you only have to ring, try doing that with Fender.

I spoke to Alan today and I'm on the waiting list Just to confirm at present it's around 8 months and the standard charge for a HBM strat is £1200. Something to look forward to....but it will be a long wait To save anyone else a bit of time his number is 01912901751. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by giving his number. It is in the public domain so hopefully all will be ok. Kevin
