Saw this on fleabay - item no. 250430927510 TC Electronic Fireworx FX Unit. Details here www.tcelectronic.com/fireworx.aspChecking out the manual it looks like you can have up to two indepenent 3-tap delays or a single 6-tap. I think it also has EQ on the delays and there`s an LFO which might be able to emulate wow / flutter. What do you reckon Charlie?

Hi Ian, I have had a quick look at the manual. The input impedance is 20K (too low for guitar) into balanced XLR sockets, the impedance might be halved into unbalanced connections. This presents two problems, it is not possible to use a jack, and the input impedance is too low for direct connection from a guitar. The unit is designed for studio use and guitar has not been considered. The stereo delay blocks seem to me as though they might be more versatile than the 6 multitap blocks but not sure how much space would be left for other essential features. The 6 multitap blocks are too limiting for serious echo unit emulation. It appears to be the closest thing I have seen to a Q20 in many ways, and the price is probably acceptable, but the inputs spec is a severe limitation for guitar use. If they brought out a similar model dedicated for guitar use, I would be much more interested. Regards, Charlie

Ahh, the eye of an expert. I never even noticed the input impedance, well spotted Maybe it could be successfully used in a send/return loop? I just thought it looked interesting - ta for looking By the way, there`s a Q2 on Fleabay now - only 50 quid so far
