I am new to all this EFTP patches etc. I am thinking of buying a zoom rfx 2000 or zoom rfx2200 do they come with patches installed or do I get these seperately, and if so how do I install them?

The RFX units come normally with the factory preset programs and not EFTP programs. The RFX-2200 has a built in power supply and therefore needs an earth connection. This can cause hum because of an earth loop between the RFX-2200 and the amp and other mains powered earthed equipment in the signal chain. The amount of hum should be considered to be unpredictable until it is tested with the equipment it will be used with. Older equipment tends to have more poorly designed earthing scemes and therefore can hum more when connected with other mains powered equipment. If the unit you are thinking of buying does not already have EFTP installed I can supply the programs for £40 for either unit. Files are sent by email and you would install the programs yourself from the data file included. To do that you will need a Windows computer. the Zoom RFX-2000ED editor program available for free from the Zoom Japan site, and you will need a USB to MIDI adaptor with 2 MIDI cables, in and out. Not all adaptors are suitable as some are too slow to handle the data. Regards, Charlie
