Hi All: I'm adding some improvements my small home-studio (2 x 2,5 mts) and I'll go to buy a pair of Reference Monitors for it. My question it's to check with who has experience if the Behringer MS-16 (link lower) could be good for my case, as it are good for my pockets..... ;D ;D. www.behringer.com/en/products/ms16.aspxMaybe I could be wrong, but I think that for my needs, i.e. recording just only one guitar (and adding the backing later) and considering the small place that I have - a little room of 2 x 2,5 mts - and without acoustical insulation and plenty of neighbors (I live in a building....), I'm thinking that to this guitar monitoring guitar this Behringer monitors (that are active) could done the job.... Or I'm wrong? ? PS- After some consults about this theme I'm considering that this MS-16 will not be the ideal for my needs....And I will this about some very much expensive (against my pocket ). I will think maybe in KRK Rokit 6 or similar.....Cheers from Brazil! Roberto

Hi Roberto, I don't know enough about the Behringer monitors to advise on that choice. Maybe there are user reviews that you could find on places like Harmony Central. What I do is to link my computer sound card output to my hifi, which I can trust, having modified the crossovers in my speakers until I obtained what I think is reasonably accurate sound. Of course, if you do not have a hifi system in the same room, you will need decent monitors. I can advise one thing though, I do not trust the expensive JBL monitors, the problem with all of the ones I have heard is that the sound is completely different when you play the same music on a different system. It was also confirmed to me by an experienced sound engineer that JBL are a poor choice for mastering. Regards, Charlie

Hi Roberto, I use Behringer MS20's connected to the PC as monitor speakers. They are the next step up from MS16. Very good value for money and sound quite reasonable. For checking a BT I also put it through the PA at high volume and if a track for a CD also check through a Hi Fi system and headphones. They all sound different so it is a question of compromise.
Because of your limited space and neighbours (lucky me the nearest neighbour is over 1 KM away), have you considered recording via an amp simulator direct into the PC ? The MS20's have two analogue sets of inputs with individual vol control so you could have the BT from the PC playing in one and depending on the amp sim, have the guitar signal going into the PC for recording and at the same time into the MS20 for listening. That way there is no problem with latency whilst you record.
