Hi Garry In 1980 I purchased an original Burns Bison (in black that had faded to a bluey/grey). After contacting the Burns guru Paul Day about this instrument he told me if I removed the centre scratch plate there was possibly a date inside. This I did and found the date Jan 1965. It was all Burns except it had a Baldwin name on the lower horn scratch plate (apparently this was a transition model that was made using all Burns components till the Balwin company took over complete production), and yes it has the full scroll at the top of the headstock. I used this live till I bought my first Strat in 1982. There are an enormous amount of sounds this instrument will deliver due to pickup configurations, far more versatile than a Strat. The horns on this guitar are huge and take getting used to, lighter in weight than a Strat, comfortable to play, supurb low low action and you don't have to remove the tremolo to pack it in the case. Just to add... the trem works on a knife edge principle and is exactly the same as on the Marvin. I had no issues with stability. Hope this helps.
Colin

hi colin thanks for your reply I have just never used a resotube trem and was a little worried because it is so different to a strat trem . I am probably going to get a burns but not sure yet which model I am torn between a bison 64 and a marquee . I have had a marquee guitar in the past and I loved it but just thought that the 64 bison would might sound better because of the resotube trem . regards garry
