String choice is an on old chestnut but with my new HCSE unit I have lost what was a slight annoying 'clankiness' that I used to think was the strings or the pickups on my Mexican HBM Strat. This must have in fact been a feature of my Zoom 2000, which by the way I now realise was also responsible for some 'carry-over' from the channel switching foot pedal on my Stockton amp - something I thought was caused by the poor amp pedal.
I've never been able to find a string I like other than 11's Fender Bullets however, and these I think also sound different with the new unit. So I might experiment again at the next string change - what should I try though - D'Addario's?

HI Mike, Pickups will have an affect on the strings you use, I personally use D'Addario's 11s and 10s. I mostly play with 11s but one of my strats has Fat 50s pickups fitted and I prefer 10s on that guitar. This of course is my own personal choice. Regards Carl.

I use D'Addario's for the last 40 years and with the new HCSE unit I've only have to adjust the volume level of the amps I use....because of the output level of the unit, compared with the Alesis unit. Mike if you wonder, if D'Addario's sounds "old sound" enough listen to my demo of HBTY on this site or on the official HallandCollins site.
Cheers Rob

Hi Mike, On my guitars I only use Pyramid strings ( pyramid-saiten.de/de/direct/ ) - they exist since 1850 and produce strings of very high and durable quality. On my Strat I use a Pyramid standard jazz string set (012-016-024w-032w-042w-052w) and they act in concert with every echo unit I own - especially with the HCSE. I can recommend them in any way. Cheers, Bernie
