Hi Every one , first of all a Very Merry Christmas to you all and a Happy New Year .
I just want to sound out the best way to set up my amp to other items, just changed my VOX VT40+ to a VOX AC30 VR I have a Fender Strats ( Fiesta Red ).. Behringer Vintage Delay Pedal..Alesis Quadraverb ( with Charlies Patches ) Vox Tonelab Desktop , is this the order to use remembering from the Tonelab to the amp would have to be L R Phono's to Amp Input . The last two years I have not had much time to get on the Guitar , so I class myself as STILL a novice , still learning Shadows Guitar Tabs, only at home for fun . One other thing on the Tonelab which is the best settings for Shadows songs .
Any help would be great....... Thanks Roger .

After years of stacking gizmo's between my guitar and amp....I came to the conclusion lesser is best. So for me it is strat-volume pedal-HCSE-Vox....and it sounds not to bad... Click on the link below , I hope you like it... Wonderful LandCheers Rob

Hello Roger
Well, as the ventriloquist say between closed lips - “that’s the way to do it” and Rob has offered very sound advice.
Hello Rob,
I really must throw out some bits and bobs - but not too many as I am in a covers band.
Really great rendition, you must have been pleased be pleased with that when you played it back.
Cheers
Mick

Hi there Rob, Greetings from New Zealand, I know this is a bit late, but I have just come across your wonderful land recording. It really sounds great, well done. Would you please elaborate on your amp settings, did you use reverb? If so, did you use much? In NZ, we don't see much of the old Vox amps just all the new stuff. I use a 59 Re-Issue Fender Bassman and a Yamaha Magicstomp with EFTP. Whilst this setup sounds ok, I always thought there was something missing and I think it is reverb. Anyway, cheers and keep up those great recordings. Regards Wrangler NZ

To be honest I completely forgotten this posting...sorry Mick and Mick thank you so very much for your more then kind remarks about my humble playing. Wrangler thanks for your appreciation of my sound. I didn't use a old Vox amp....I used a 2007 Vox AC15H1TV and the settings just by ear...all depends on the room and microphone used... So I fiddle the knobs every-time I start...and I compare it with the original in my head or with the record. I didn't use any reverb at all, my mate who did managed the recorder...used a very very little compression, he told me that just recently. So al those years i wasn't aware of that. Listen to my recording of Witch Doctor...I'm using even lesser stuff... Strat with 14/62 strings- Harley Benton AcTone- md recorder. Witch DoctorCheers Rob

Hi there Rob, Have just been listening to Witch Doctor, wow, that is a great sound and playing, good stuff. The backing sounds like the original recording minus lead guitar, I am sure I have seen that type of program somewhere. Anyway, keep up the good work. Cheers -- Wrangler NZ

After chasing *the sound*. for years, it has finally dawned on me that Hank Marvin sounds like Hank Marvin. thro an old Dansette record player, a cheap Amstrad cassette player a sophisticated Bang & Olevson system , a radio / television. etc etc etc . Need I say more? Having said that, I have heard some darned close ones on here, unfortunately I am not one of them. Ahhh Well , keep banging on. Regards, Frank.

Witch DoctorCheers Rob Extremely well played and mixed. I followed this link expecting an instrumental version of the old David Seville song (Ooh-ee Ooh-ahh-ahh Ting-Tang Walla-walla-bing-bang) but as soon as I heard the familiar frantic rhythm part of what I know as 'The Savage' it kickstarted a vague memory that I had previously encountered a variant of TS under the name Witch Doctor. I wondered then as I'm wondering now - is there a story behind the dual-naming? And, given the main difference from this to the "original" is in the middle solo section - does this mean that what Hank usually plays on stage, which generally exhibits a third distinct middle section, is 'The Savage' or 'Witch Doctor?' Or something else entirely?! Just curious ☺️

Witch Doctor was recorded for a film (The Young Ones?), as for why it had a different title, I don't know. I believe Hank and the Shadows always announced it as The Savage for live shows. Regards, Charlie

Reading back my reaction on lesser is more.... I forgot to mention the diamond that made my sound...the one and only H&CSE oops "whatta mesteeka da meeka" (Cpt Bertorelli 'allo 'allo) So my Witch Doctor was recorded with a strat with 14-62 strings, H&CSE, HB AcTone, recorder.
gthomson,
Thanks for the compliment about my playing and sound, really appreciated!!
Cheers Rob
