I think there was a Mexican HM Strat, unless I am getting confused it was only sold in a certain club book, perhaps Kays?

Yes I had 1 of these
The signature was a kind if raised fabricy transfer which I dont think would have lasted very long under normal usage.
If I remember rightly I got it from littlewoods catalogue in the late 90's for 250
& Unloaded it on the well known auction site acouple of years later as it was'nt a very good guitar
