Can you Q2 owners tell me what a difference in sound/echoes/muting etc I would get if I changed my Magicstomp (EFTP) to a Q2 or Q20. What's the difference between Q2 and Q20 - which one is recommended? Thanks and rgds - Clive

Hi Clive, For the difference in cost the sound is surprisingly similar in many ways, although the voicing for tape/drum echo sound is more accurate than the Magicstomp. The delay times are the same so you wouldn't hear much difference in the effect when damped notes are played. The Q2 and Q20 sound about the same, except that the Q20 has 20 bit conversions instead of 18 bit so it has a slightly cleaner sound and slightly less background hiss. Regards, Charlie

HI CLIVE CHARLIE & ALL... CLIVE, I have both unit's & although I am noyt much of a player ,my ear's for that-sound are very good,, & If I were you I would try to acquire a Q2 ''but retain'' the magic-stomp as well as they are so good as well& are getting extremly hard to find these day's...
The difference is quite noticeable especially now charlie has revised the ''ECHOM2'' patches ,on the emailed 79-09 patch-set he hit a ''magic-formula''with the Q2 in my opinion..
TheQ2 has a much more''woodier-vintage-more analog -sound'' & those revision's were emailed free after the initial purchase of the patch-set...&the 79.09 efpt is well worth the added cost !!!!!! over the m/stomp cost which is surprisingly cheap [too-cheap in my opinion], extremly good value for money, making the m/stomp a cheaper all around unit....& this is why I would advise you clive to retain the m/stomp...as well as trying to get hold of a Q2[US-the well known auction site-cheaper than a m/stomp at present]..
IF you acquire a Q2 you will not regret it ,''A-MAGIC-SOUND''...
CHEERS......... barry..

HI CLIVE ,,,AS to our winter we are having a much colder winter here than normal ,& much needed rain & it's a bit of a shock after the terrible heat-waves we had for the past 3-4 summer's,,, It seem's that the weather cycle this year is returning to the older-times [hopefully any-way] .... AS to the Q2-Q20 , I only have the Q2's ,but I am sure charlie has said with the ''emailed-79-09 patchset '' there is virtully no difference at all ....The Q20 has an avantage with the inbuilt p/supply being compatible voltage-wise to all countries!!!!''charlie will explain the extra processing capabilitie's of the Q20 , but as said with the current efpt not much advantage,& they are quite rare these day's as well as there were not many produced....

Can someone tell me what the difference is between a Quad2 and Quad Plus. I've been told that Hank uses/d a Plus. I guess you'd know Charlie.

Hank did briefly try a Quad Plus but when shown the Q2 at the same time I advised him that it was a much better unit. Regards, Charlie
