Looks good at first gander but it appears the left one has a thicker body (not necessarily a bad thing because I believe some Squiers have a thinner body than a US or Mex made strat) and the headstock shape is a little less 'delicate' than the Squier. The important thing is the price, sound and playing experience. Theres a load of stuff on You tube about replica guitars--some positive but mostly derogatory--particlarly Chibsons. Regards David

The Squiers do have a better build than some of the other Chinese own name guitars. I have a few which I find really good A Strat CV50's along with a CV'50's Telecaster and a Jaguar also I have a Burns Marquee built in China all of which for the price are extremely good guitars to play and they sound remarkable.

Hi Guys Yes, the neck is a little bit thicker on the left..and the strings are not as straight as on the squier. The angle on the headstock is more pronounced than on the Squier. I have to make a comparison about the shape of the curves at the headstock. Underneath, the bridge pocket is a little bit tight for the impersonator pickups. The guitar is heavier then the squier, frets are medium size - on the Squier, they are thin ones. The colour is a little bit different from the fiesta red we know, as I took the picture under halogen lights. But it plays well. I just wanted to have one done by a company and judge the quality..satisfied about 80%..! Sheendigs

Hi Pete The company that I dealt with, can put whatever one desire. One has to at least give them the font we want to use (This is what I did with Marvin - it could have been anything else) They varnish it afterwards..so this let us go wild, with our own design! Sheendigs

Hi Sheendigs.........you say the strings are not as straight on your "Marvin" guitar by which I assume you mead they are closer to the edge of the fretbooard on one side...........here's a tip I picked up from the G&L (Guitars by Leo) website to adjust this.........and I'veused it 3 times on guitars brought to me for set up (with bolt on necks) very easily.
Just slacken the 4 screws holding the neck plate.... a quarter to half turn on each should be plenty.....leave the strings under tension........and gently tap the headstock or nut end of the neck away from the side where the strings are too close to the edge.....i.e.if the bottom E is too close to the fretboard edge, tap the top end of the neck on the same side. Retighten the screws when your happy with the result

Hi Baz, Sorry not to have expressed myself correctly. Strings 3,4,5,6 - From the nut to the tuners, are more inclined than on the Squier. So,I guess, I will have to put a retainer for strings 3 and 4.
Thanks for the tips anyway..I will keep that in my notes. Sheendigs

Hi Sheendigs......understood.............if the angle of the strings behind the nut gives no problem when playing , I personally wouldn't bother with an extra tree.........just adds another possible friction point to the string run

Hi Sheendigs, What is the playing & sound comparison to the Squire/Fender? you say your 80% satisfied could you elaborate for us?. For everybody's info I have been quoted with (Strat like) Fiesta red with gold hardware delivered at current exchange rate minus any import duties £382.....

Hi Jono The neck is a little bit chunkier. I would say that the neck is what we call a 'Medium V' found on 56 Stratocaster. The Squier has got a slimmer neck 'Modern C' , which is nice to play. I am adapting myself to the 'Medium V,...not too hard to play.
The fiesta red colour is good and compared to the Squier, it misses a little bit more 'fiesta'..hard to tell if you do not have both guitars together.
As I said before, because of the 'neck curve', there is a more angled incline for the strings, one can see that at the photo I posted at the top of this page. There is a little slant angle when one looks down from the neck at the top..(My luthier will fix that soon, the neck plate is a little bit too close to the curve, I will make a photo comparison afterwards)
It cost me about 378 US$ = £222. I did not want their pickups because I had already Kinman Impersonator waiting for the implementation. You have to watch out for customs duty when it lands.
The actual Squier pickups on the Chinese are very low in output (I know that) because I had Kinman Hank's installed...what a difference.
The sound with the impersonator is a killer..very rich. I understand what Hank meant (But then, I was too young to be able to judge the first stratocasters of 54!).
So, I just summed up what I saw (80%!)
If you can live with that, I would say - go for it!

Hi Jono Perhaps it is the inside photos that do not show the golden colour. So, I went outside and made a collage. You can see better now? Sheendigs
