Hi everyone, just joined as a new member but can see already this is a great site! I have a question or should I say a request. I am trying to create a few Hank tones using my POD XT LIVE. Does anyone have any Hank tones already in their Pod that they would like to share. The Line 6 website has lots of downloadable guitar sounds but nothing much from Hank

MarkyMark, welcome to Charlie's site.
Most people when using the Pods or similar Tonelabs, use them together with one of Charlie's creations. Zoom RFX, or one of the Quadraverbs, these provide the "lifelike" echoes,
The Pod is normally used to provide the amp simulation.
I'm sure someone will come along with a Hank tone though, the basis is on the Pods to get you a reasonable sound.
Cheers Barry

Hi Barry
Thanks for your quick reply! I have been looking at the Yamaha Stomp Box as quite a few people seem to be using that on this site, do you have any experience of this or any preferences of your own that you think might be of interest to me.
Thanks
Markymark

I think over the last few years I've had three or four MagicStomps and let them all go. Their prices have rocketed in the last few years, my first one cost £47 brand new. They sell for over £200 on the well known auction site now.
It may be worth noting that any of the three different MagicStomps will work with Charlie's patches, the Guitar, Bass and Acoustic versions.
My personal taste is for either the Quad GT or the Q2, installed with Charlie's patches. Never managed to get my hands on the Q20 to try.
Something you'll have to prepare yourself for is the swopping and chopping of diiferent units. They all come in and go out of favour. Most of the stuff that is used is obsolete anyway and not easy to get a hold of, as soon as you've sold it, you start to regret the sale afterwards.
You'll hear someone's track and think that sounds good but it never somehow seems to sound the same when you change to whatever they're using. There are so many variables to play with, pickups, strings, guitar body, amp and a whole host of effects before the sound gets onto the recorder.
Cheers Barry

I use an XTL, normally modeling a Vox AC15, running into an Atomic 112/50 amp If you are not familiar with the Atomics (they are extremely difficult to find, with long waiting lists for new ones - I had to import mine from Germany), they are built specifically for use with amp modelers like the XTL. They are basically a power amp with just a volume control and all tone is set via the modeler. This way you get the correct amp simulation without any tonal colouring from the amp.
The problem with the delays on the XTL is that there is no multi-tap facility. So, I use a Quadraverb GT, programmed with Charlie's EFTP for my echoes. On the whole I get a great sound with this set-up.

Hi Markymark.
It kind of depends of what amp you are using. I use a Blackstar HT-5 amp and therefore don't have to use any amp simulations on the POD.
For most tunes, I use the Noise Gate, Red Comp and either a Ping-Pong or Multi-Head Delay.
Regards,
Elliott
