Hi friends one and all, for two days now I have been using my guitar>Samson wireless>Magicstomp................and then comes the new bit............i'm using our bands PA system set FLAT everything on my channel, if I want the shadows sound ( which I do for most all my instrumentals ) I just use the bridge setting on the guitar and the appropriate setting on the M/stomp. I have not got the details of the make/type of Pa system we have but I will post if required,
I now have for sale one Peavey VK100 head, luvly conditon, never had the amber liquid spilt on it at all, it is....as new..
and a beautiful hand crafted cabinet with 2 x 12" neods.
one lead HA HA to tie em together Ha Ha Ha
I am over the moon with the bell like tones I can now achieve in the upper register..roll on next session
Cheers
Brian

Hi Mark, as promised here are the details of the PA system we use
Our pa system is as follows : Alto L8 ( 8 channel ) mixing console, we use powered speakers Alto PS4-LA The Alto PS4-LA feature a 200 Watt amplifier on the 12 bass driver, and a 70 Watt amp for the high frequencies. The 1 HF compression driver has a polymer diaphragm and is horn loaded via a 90°x45° flare horn. Limiter protection is via analogue electronics, never really felt short on power and as I said before, we run 2 x keyboards my guitar and 3 mike’s...........
The tone I am getting is a real dream, But I did flatten the controls on the mixer unit, the way I did it was as so, set magic stomp at NO EFFECT, and by pass on my compressor, there you have it, I hope this is of some help, about time I put a little something back on here..
Cheers

Brian This is very interesting and good news for you.
We have a guy at my Shads club who plays through the PA with just his Long Tom echo in the loop. He sounds streets ahead of any one else with that sound. No body can put their finger on how he gets such an authentic sound from a tranny powered PA. It is uncannily better than any of the valve amps members bring along. Maybe there is a lesson to be learnt here and we are all missing some thing?

Hi Peter, I should think that part of the reason is that valves are involved in the Long Tom. Regards, Charlie

Thanks Peter, yup I guess we are all missing something, I avoided this setup basically because there were NO VALVES and always understood that we needed a valve amp to get the sound we were after. the sound I am getting now is as good a sound as I have ever had, and I included the days in the 60's when my Vox AC30 was all I ever had, that amp was a blinder, it got chucked around our van along with all the other stuff a 5 pce group carts around the country, and at time we were doing 3 gigs in one evening, I remember Bernard Manning use to always say "right lads when you done her I want you over at the Yewtree then off to the " and I can remember t'others he used to send us to, so no time to let valves cool down before moving the amps. But as for the pa sound I got to thinking some time ago, that using an amp simulator then putting that signal thro another valve amp didnt quite seem the right thing to do, and now here I am without my Vox Tonelab in the chain, it was just complicating the issue, so as a start I left it out, no doubt I will give it a whirl in the near future and fill you in with the results, in closing I will just say that I am happy with the sound I have now, as a bonus it sorts out the balance between instruments as far as volume levels go, brill
Cheers
